Have you checked off all the items on our December to-do list? If you've been caught up in a frenzy of Christmas shopping and holiday parties, take a break and spend some quality time with your family. Read on for a few family fun-time ideas, while there's still time to see the season's bright lights, visit Santa Claus and more!

  1. On the first day of Christmas, wave to Santa Claus at your community Christmas Parade. The Big Jingle Jubilee Holiday Parade dashes through downtown Little Rock at 3 p.m. Dec. 1.
  2. On the second day of Christmas, travel along Arkansas’ trail of holiday lights, from the Garvan Gardens’ display in Hot Springs, through Little Rock to the twinkling Arkansas State Capitol and all the way to Searcy’s bright courthouse square. Click here to see more high-wattage events.
  3. Spend day three watching pretty ballerinas pirouette through a performance of The Nutcracker. Ballet Arkansas presents their annual production, accompanied by the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Dec. 7-9 at Robinson Center Music Hall.
  4. Journey to the North Pole on the fourth day, with help from the Junior League of Little Rock’s Annual Holiday House Children’s Event on Dec. 8—the theme of this year’s bash is All Aboard the Polar Express.
  5. On the fifth day of Christmas, Little Rock Family will give to you…theater tickets to a holiday show! Keep up with our Facebook page throughout the month for details on how to win passes to “City Mouse, Country Mouse, Christmas House” at the Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre.
  6. Pick out the perfect Christmas tree on day six—Motley’s Christmas Tree Farm in Little Rock lets visitors cut down their own pine, fir or cypress, and complete the experience with a free wagon rides, hot cocoa and candy canes.
  7. Can you hear the jingle bells? They’ll be ringing Dec. 14-16, as the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra presents the traditional tunes of the season during the Pops II: Happy Holidays concert at Robinson Center Music Hall.
  8. Make a merry sound on day eight. Go caroling along the trails of Pinnacle Mountain State Park from 7-9 p.m. Dec. 15. Afterwards, everyone will sip hot chocolate around the campfire.
  9. It’s day nine—time to visit Santa Claus! He'll be appearing at special events throughout the month; check our calendar to find him at a holiday party. Or, view our list to see where you can find a Santa outpost at local shopping centers and other locations.
  10. Day 10: Lace up a pair of skates and hit the ice at the Arvest Ice Rink at the Little Rock Rivermarket Pavilions, open every day through New Year’s.
  11. Show your family the importance of giving on the eleventh day. Volunteer or donate to a local cause, such as Stuff the Sleigh, a nonprofit that gathers toys for foster children in central Arkansas.
