“Where is the first place you take an out-of-town visitor?”

“We take them for a bike ride along the Arkansas River Trail or for a hike up Pinnacle Mountain. If our guests aren’t big on the outdoors, we look for what’s happening downtown such as the speaker series at the Clinton School of Public Service or a special film festival screening at Ron Robinson Theatre. For food, we always enjoy Natchez for lunch, South on Main for dinner, plus we hit up the Capital Bar & Grill for an after-dinner drink and some live jazz.”

“Because I’m a local entrepreneur, I find myself invested in our local mom-and-pop shops and restaurants. I take out-of-towners to Lassis Inn—a historic black landmark that’s one of the first established black-owned restaurants and arguably one of the best (the fried catfish is a must)—and Brown Sugar Bake Shop (try a German chocolate cupcake). I always take first-time visitors to EMOBA (Ernie’s Museum of Black Arkansans) in the Mosaic Templars building and to catch a show at The Rep. Afterwards, we grab a drink at The Afterthought with its mellow club feel.”

“I usually take them to a show at White Water Tavern and for a drink at Midtown, preferably on Thursday when they do Bottle Toss—or for pizza at Vino’s downtown. Those places are what make Little Rock great. Real people having a real good time.”

“It really depends on what’s going on, but we usually end up downtown at Sticky Fingers, White Water or Rev Room. The Flying Saucer has always been a great watering hole, so of course we have to stop there for a tasty brew. And I love Italian food, so I make it a point to go to Bruno’s Little Italy on Main Street.

“The first thing we love to do is show off Downtown Conway and The Village at Hendrix. When we go to Little Rock we always have fun walking around the River Market and over the bridges. If our guests are up to it, we have to take them to hike Pinnacle Mountain to enjoy the amazing views of our state. And of course, if we are talking food, we can’t let them miss out on Pitza 42 and Tacos 4 Life...we are little partial.”

For every meal purchased at Tacos 4 Life and Pitza 42, a meal is donated to a child in need. The owners founded these eateries with a desire to help end world hunger.

“The Clinton Presidential Center & Park would be the first place I take first-time visitors, even if I didn’t work for the Clinton Foundation! It’s such a great place. From exploring the exhibits to dining at its restaurant, Forty Two to walking the Clinton Bridge outside or enjoying the public programs—there’s something for everyone. And because I’m a proud graduate of Little Rock Central High School, I take them there. It’s such a historical place and such a beautiful building. For food: Sims Bar-b-que or The Root Café."
