Just because Maumelle has grown to about 15,000 residents doesn’t mean this planned community has lost sight of its original goal: being a comfortable and safe community with easy access to the capital city.

“I chose this area because I have always loved the suburban feel of the town. I like that it’s not the country, but at the same time, I don’t have some of the headaches associated with living in the city,” Tasha Battle said. “Not to mention, we’ve got great parks, lakes and schools. Plus it’s just minutes from downtown and west Little Rock.”

Homes in Maumelle are quite spacious. Costs range from $150,000 to $500,000 for large custom-built homes. Because of the newness of the entire area, the closest you’ll come to a historic district would be acquiring a home or condominium built during the initial development of the city a little more than 30 years ago.

Retail, Restaurants

Personal needs are no problem; everything you need is right off Maumelle Boulevard, the primary way to home, shopping and dining.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. recently opened a Neighborhood Market in the area, as well as a new Supercenter just outside the Maumelle city limits. Diners will find local restaurants like Cheers, American Pie Pizza, Razorback Pizza and Cobblestone Deli, plus favorite national chains like Starbucks, Sonic and Wendy’s. New eateries continue to pop up, including Zaxby’s, Arby’s and Taco Bueno. If you can’t find what you’re looking for in Maumelle, access to more options is just 15 minutes away in west Little Rock, downtown Little Rock or North Little Rock.

Maumelle has beautiful park areas that include more than 13 miles of paved trails for walks and biking. Residents also have access to wooded greenbelts throughout the city. Picnicking and fishing can be enjoyed at Lake Valencia and Lake Willastein.

Fitness needs can be met indoors at the Jess Odom Community Center. The center has weight and cardio rooms, a walking track, basketball courts, and fitness classes. The facility’s outdoor Aquatic Center, open Memorial Day through Labor Day, offers zero-depth entry, slides and covered play areas.

Golf Courses

Golf is a short drive from anywhere in Maumelle. The Country Club of Arkansas and the Maumelle Country Club offer 18 holes each with PGA pros on staff ready to help you improve your game.

The Country Club of Arkansas features custom homes on a course designed by Robert Miller. A breathtaking, rolling terrain championship course of 6,500 yards keeps players’ attention on the game. The clubhouse has been expanded and the covered patio is a great gathering place.

Maumelle Country Club’s private course challenges the most experienced golfer. Eighteen holes surrounded by nature are available for play all year with rare exception. The club’s swimming pool and tennis courts provide a fun workout.
