This thriving community boasts a small-town atmosphere with a big-town population. With nearly 30,000 residents, Benton is the state’s 16th largest city. For some, it’s a bedroom community, but its opportunities and charm keep many residents within the city.

Live
While there is an array of dwelling options for young professionals, families and retirees in Benton, a housing boom in the ‘80s and a rising population has pushed Benton residents toward the city limits. The city is working with plans to move into the more rural areas on its outskirts. One of the area’s more prominent subdivisions, Hurricane Lake Estates, however, affords a bit of both. It’s a quiet and relatively private subdivision with sprawling lots that boast impressive front elevations and modern amenities inside.

Work
Located on Interstate 30 between Little Rock and Hot Springs, Benton continues to grow in both population and business opportunities. Its prime location serves as a convenient area to commute to Little Rock or Hot Springs, but it’s an attractive business environment itself. Many national and regional retailers like Target and Best Buy have brought in jobs for the younger work force, while other chains are still shopping the area for the perfect piece of real estate. Dunkin’ Donuts is scoping out the climate in Benton for a possible new store – if the city were to land the breakfast pastry giant, it would be the first of their shops in the state.

Play
Benton’s park system offers several athletic leagues for kids and adults, numerous shopping centers for the shopping addict in your life and well-maintained golf courses where you can fine-tune your swing. With four parks located within the town, you’re sure to find a great spot to picnic with the family, throw a Frisbee or just bask in the great outdoors. Cliff Lee, a Benton-born baseball prodigy who pitches for the Texas Rangers, might be the best testament to the recreational opportunities available in town.

Experience
Residents looking for culture and philanthropic opportunities don’t have to drive into Little Rock – Benton is home to a variety of arts venues and service organizations. The Boys & Girls Club of Saline County, the Junior Auxiliary of Benton, Civitan Services, the Benton Lions Club and others are always looking for volunteers. Meanwhile, weekend warriors as well as families utilize venues such as The Royal Theater, the Gann Museum of Saline County and Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library for cultural and literary enrichment.
