The art of North Little Rock native and long-time resident Theresa Cates also calls the city home, as it’s sold exclusively in the Argenta district at Red Door Gallery. She’s there every third Friday for Argenta ArtWalk and across the river on Second Friday Art Night in the River Market District. The events draw the region’s artistic talents and enthusiasts alike. Other places to admire art include the renowned Arkansas Arts Center, which houses master works by artists like van Gogh, and even traffic control boxes along North Little Rock’s trolley line – Cates has three signature paintings on road-side display.

What’s the local art community like? It’s up and coming; there’s still room for a lot of great talent. Newcomers will find all mediums here, even 3D canvas and sculpture.

What’s your favorite art event? The Center for Youth & Families’ annual “Splatters” event. It’s a nonprofit event benefiting the Center, where local artists donate a work of art, which they’ve painted onto a platter, to be auctioned off at the event.
