Arkansas Children’s Hospital: Director of General Pediatric Clinic, Headache Clinic

Born and raised in The Natural State with eight siblings, Dr. Joe Elser now raises a family with six kids along with wife Angie. The director of the General Pediatric Section at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, where he did his residency, Elser’s also an expert by extension on central Arkansas families.

Why is central Arkansas great for raising a family? It is small enough that you don’t feel like you’re in a big city, but there are many things to do. You are also around good schools and many arts and cultural events. For my kids, there are a lot of opportunities for them to be around good schools, sports and other activities.

What activities does your family enjoy? We love going to Pinnacle Mountain, the many kid friendly restaurants – Buffalo Grill, Playtime Pizza, Orange Leaf – the Razorback games, the Little Rock Zoo and the The Museum of Discovery. Magic Springs and the lakes in Hot Springs are close too.
