Metro Little Rock has so much for families to see and do it’s hard to know where to begin. Here’s one of many Saturday itineraries you can create for your whole family right here in the metro’s anchor city:

Early Morning: Hike to the top for the best view in town
Pinnacle Mountain State Park trails are perfect for families looking for an outdoor escape. The West Summit Trail steps its way to the top of the mountain and rewards climbers with a breathtaking view of the Arkansas River.

Mid-morning: meet zoo creatures
A children’s farm, a carousel and more than 700 animals representing more than 200 different species make the Little Rock Zoo one of the top attractions for all Arkansans. Recent additions like a family of cheetahs, a baby gorilla and a penguin exhibit continue to draw in the crowds.

Lunch: go where KIDS EAT FREE
When the hunger pangs hit, there’s no better place for families to dine than at one of the Metro’s many eateries that generously let kids eat free (certain days only, with the purchase of an adult entreé). Best bets: Larry’s Pizza, NYPD Pizza, MOOYAH Burger, Mexico Chiquito, JJ’s Grill, Arkansas Burger Co., American Pie Pizza, Shorty Small’s, Stromboli’s and The Villa Italian. Visit LittleRockFamily.com for full list.

Early Afternoon: let them touch everything!
The Museum of Discovery – recently ranked top 10 among U.S. science museums by Mensa – is a must for families. Build things in the Tinkering Studio; try out the tornado simulator; explore the human body; and do it all in an educational setting disguised as a good time.

Mid-afternoon: experience the new library
Experience the new, state-of-the-art Children’s Library & Learning Center, which includes a computer lab, teaching kitchen, garden, activity area, theater, and more in addition to a collection of 21,000-plus books, DVDs, and CDs. What really sets the library a part are all of the cool activities kids can do, including cooking workshops, greenhouse talks, hands-on gardens and theater programs, not to mention traditional crafts activities and story times.

Evening: Grab tickets to a play
The Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre stages six shows each season, many of them originals and all of them based on familiar kid-friendly books or tales.
