Welcome to Metro Little Rock: Cabot
The largest city in Lonoke County, Cabot offers a high-ranking school system with easy access to Little Rock. With more than 50 subdivisions, newcomers have a wide range of options for quiet neighborhoods and community living.
It’s no secret that many people are drawn to the city for its school system; Cabot School District has an enrollment of 10,000 students. Cabot Middle School is repeatedly recognized as one of the National Schools to Watch Award for Mid-level Education. Not only that, but Cabot students generally score higher on Arkansas benchmark exams than the state average.
Friday night football games are a huge social event in Cabot. The district recently built a three-story complex that includes an indoor practice field, proving the city of Cabot loves its Panthers.
Educational and health services are the largest industries here, followed by manufacturing and retail trade, but city leaders are working to position Cabot as a prime area for economic development. And, of course, more employment opportunities abound just a few minutes away in Little Rock.
The Veterans Park Community Center sits right across from the high school. Facilities include basketball courts, an indoor walking track, child care, meeting and fitness rooms and more. In 2016, new ball fields and an aquatic center were added. In 2017, two more expansions opened to include an events center with a ballroom, a safe room for 250 people and an exercise area that offers spin and fitness classes, cardio machines and weight-training equipment. Just outside the center, a skate park beckons younger ones to catch some air.
If you’re an avid hunter or fisher, Cabot is a sportsman’s paradise. If golf is more your style, there are several courses including Greystone Country Club, designed by distinguished Nashville architect Kevin Tucker.
